About

Bowler Group Campground sits along Jackass Creek in the Bass Lake Ranger District of Sierra National Forest, offering a quiet, primitive camping experience for groups seeking solitude in the high Sierra. The campground provides 12 sites and a primitive amphitheater, making it suitable for organized group outings. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Facilities are minimal: one vault toilet serves the entire campground, and there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility with no trash service. Horses are permitted, though no equestrian facilities are provided. Cell service is unavailable in the area, and the nearest services are at Jones Store. The campground typically operates from June through October, weather permitting. Access is via Beasore Road (Forest Road 7), approximately 20 miles north of the Highway 41/Road 222 junction near Oakhurst. Mosquito repellent is recommended during the summer months.

Directions

From Fresno, take Highway 41 north through Oakhurst to Road 222. Turn right on Road 222 and travel approximately 5.5 miles to Beasore Road (Forest Road 7). Turn left and continue north on Beasore Road approximately 20 miles.
