Situated along Fish Creek in the Sierra National Forest, Little Jackass Campground offers an intimate camping experience under a canopy of oak and pine trees. This small, primitive campground caters to campers seeking tranquility and simplicity in a forested setting. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, grill, and fire ring, while the campground provides one vault toilet for all visitors. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system and charges no fees. Group size is limited to six people per site, maintaining the peaceful atmosphere of this lightly-used facility. Access requires traveling approximately 39 miles on Minarets Road (Forest Road 81) from North Fork, then turning onto Forest Road 6S22 for the final half mile. The nearest services are available at Wagner's Store. Little Jackass Campground appeals to self-sufficient campers who appreciate basic amenities and don't mind bringing their own water. The location along Fish Creek provides a scenic backdrop, though visitors should be prepared for primitive conditions and seasonal accessibility challenges typical of mid-elevation Sierra Nevada campgrounds.

Directions

From Fresno, take Highway 41 north to Road 200. Turn right and travel east to North Fork. Continue through North Fork to Minarets Road (Forest Road 81) and travel 39 miles, approximately 2 miles past the Mammoth Pool turnoff. Turn right on Forest Road 6S22 and travel 0.5 miles to the campground.
