About

Tyler State Park is a historic 985-acre haven in Northeast Texas, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The centerpiece is a cool, spring-fed 64-acre lake surrounded by majestic 100-foot tall pine trees and original CCC structures. The park offers diverse camping options across multiple camping areas including Lakeview, Big Pine, Cedar Point, Dogwood Ridge, Red Oak, Hickory Hollow, and Sumac Bend, with 101 campsites ranging from water-only sites to full hookup RV sites, plus screened shelters and cabins. Outdoor enthusiasts will find over 13 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking, including the historic Whispering Pines Nature Trail laid out by the CCC over 85 years ago. The lake offers excellent fishing for crappie, perch, catfish, and bass, with a fishing pier, boat ramp, and tackle loaner program available. Boats are allowed with a 5 mph speed limit, and the park rents canoes, kayaks, paddleboats, stand-up paddleboards, and johnboats year-round. Swimming is popular in designated areas, and the park features restrooms with showers, a park store selling supplies and snacks, and ranger programs throughout the year. The park is located just minutes from Tyler, known as America's Rose Capital.
