About

Twin Peaks Campground sits at 9,600 feet in the Pike-San Isabel National Forest, tucked into a mixed aspen and lodgepole pine forest above Lake Creek's whitewater stretch. The 35-site campground offers impressive views of the Sawatch Range, including nearby Mount Elbert, Colorado's highest peak. Access to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail and Mount Elbert Trail makes this an excellent basecamp for high-altitude hiking. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. Vault toilets are located throughout the campground. Potable water is currently unavailable, so campers must bring adequate water supplies, including enough to fully extinguish campfires. Firewood is available for purchase at the host site. Sites accommodate up to 8 people with a maximum of 3 tents or 1 RV plus 2 tents. Some sites accommodate RVs and trailers up to 35 feet. The $28 nightly fee includes two vehicles; additional vehicles cost $11 per night. Payment is via cash, check, or money order at the self-service fee tube, or Scan and Pay through the Recreation.gov mobile app. High altitude sickness can occur at this elevation.
