Currently closed for the season. The campground typically opens in May and operates through September, weather dependent. Water is not available in 2026; campers must bring their own water supply including enough to fully extinguish campfires. RV dump stations at nearby Printer Boy and White Star campgrounds are also closed.

About

Lakeview Campground sits at 9,500 feet in a ponderosa pine and sage habitat overlooking Twin Lakes Reservoir, Colorado's largest natural glacier lakes. The campground features 50 sites across eight loops (A-H), with loops A-F available by reservation through Recreation.gov and loops G-H available first-come, first-served. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and pedestal grill. Vault toilets are available throughout. The Continental Divide Trail passes directly by the campground, with mountain biking permitted on the section from Halfmoon Road south to Twin Lakes. The Twin Lakes Reservoir spans 2,805 acres and offers sailing, water skiing, and fishing. Mount Elbert (14,433 ft), Colorado's highest peak, stands nearby, with the Mount Massive Wilderness to the north and Collegiate Peaks Wilderness to the south. The campground is approximately 20 miles south of Leadville. High altitude sickness may occur at this elevation. Firewood is available for purchase at the host site for $10 per bundle.

Directions

From Leadville, drive south 15 miles on Highway 24, turn right on Highway 82 and travel 4 miles to Lake County Road 24. Turn right on Lake County Road 24 and go 1 mile north to the campground on the left.
