Twin Lakes Cabin
Open — Open year-round for reservations. Access requires shallow draft boat or float plane. A 14-foot or higher tide is required to cross the Stikine River tide flats, and a minimum 16-foot river level is generally needed for float plane landings. The river is normally ice-free May through October. Low river levels can limit boat access as Hooligan Slough becomes shallow or blocked.

About
Twin Lakes Cabin is a 16x16-foot A-frame rental cabin built in 1962, located on the mouth of Twin Lakes Slough in the Stikine-LeConte Wilderness. The cabin sleeps up to seven people with two single bunks (one with trundle) and a second-floor loft. Amenities include a table with benches, oil space heater (No. 1 stove oil only, not provided), broom, wooden cooler box, and two pit toilets. The partially covered front porch has a built-in bench. The cabin sits on relatively flat land facing Limb Island and Hooligan Slough, surrounded by Sitka spruce, cottonwood, alder and willow. Steep mountains rise behind Figure 8 Lake (Twin Lakes), located about 400 feet behind the cabin. A 0.1-mile trail connects to Twin Lakes Picnic Site on the south shore, which features two campfire rings and an outhouse. Fishing is available in Dog Salmon Creek about 1.7 miles west for cutthroat trout (May-September) and salmon including chum, pink (July-August), and silver (August-September). Twin Lakes offers swimming, paddling and water skiing. Brown and black bears are common in the area, with moose in willow thickets and mountain goats in nearby mountains. The Stikine River tide flats are a major migratory stop for waterfowl and shorebirds.
