About

Turkey Run Ridge Group Campground is nestled in the wooded hills of Prince William Forest Park, offering nine group campsites perfect for scout troops, school groups, and organized gatherings. Six sites accommodate up to 25 people, while three larger sites hold up to 40 campers. The campground is tent-only with no RV or trailer access. Each campsite features picnic tables, fire grills, and lantern posts, with flush toilets available in the restroom facilities but no shower amenities. The campground sits within approximately 15,000 acres of Piedmont forest, representing the largest example of this ecosystem in the National Park System. This land was restored during the Great Depression by the Civilian Conservation Corps, transforming over-farmed acreage into recreational lands. Today, visitors can explore 37 miles of foot trails, bike 21 miles of paved roads including the scenic 12-mile Scenic Drive, or try one of 30 orienteering courses. Approximately 18 miles of streams and two small lakes offer fishing opportunities for bluegill, largemouth bass, and catfish. The forest is home to over 700 plant species and diverse wildlife including 38 mammal species and more than 100 bird species. Limited parking at the campground requires groups to carpool when possible.

GPS devices may route to closed service roads. Use the main park entrance only at 18511 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172. From I-95 north or south, take exit 150 to VA Route 619/Joplin Road. From the park entrance, turn left on Scenic Drive, follow 2 miles past the creek bridge and parking lot C, turn left at the Scenic Drive loop junction, then right onto Turkey Run Road after a quarter mile.
