About
Turkey Run Ridge Group Campground sits within Prince William Forest Park, a 15,000-acre Piedmont forest preserve located 35 miles southwest of Washington D.C. The campground features nine wooded group sites built for organized tent camping groups of seven or more people. Sites A, B, D, G, H, and I accommodate up to 25 campers at $65 per night, while Sites C, E, and F hold up to 40 campers at $80 per night. Facilities include flush toilets with sinks (no showers), fire pits with grills at each site, multiple picnic tables per site, and lantern posts. Potable water is available during warmer months; winter campers should fill containers at restroom sinks when outdoor spigots are shut off. The campground includes an amphitheater with bench seating. Parking is limited, so carpooling is strongly encouraged. The surrounding park offers 37 miles of hiking trails, 21 miles of paved roads popular with cyclists, 10 miles of gravel fire roads for mountain biking, and 30 orienteering courses. Fishing is available in 18 miles of streams and two small lakes stocked with bluegill, largemouth bass, and channel catfish.
Directions
From the main park entrance on Joplin Road (Hwy 619), turn left on Scenic Drive. Follow Scenic Drive about 2 miles over the creek bridge. Just past parking lot C, turn left at the junction of the Scenic Drive loop. After a quarter mile, take the first right onto Turkey Run Road and follow it to the campground at the end of the road. GPS may direct you to closed service roads; the only vehicle entrance is through the main park entrance at 18511 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA 22172.
