About
Cabin Camp 5 stands as the final and most expansive of the historic Civilian Conservation Corps cabin camps built in Prince William Forest Park during the 1930s. Set up in two units, the camp offers a mix of small cabins that sleep 2-4 people and large dorm buildings that accommodate 24 guests each, providing capacity for up to 210 people during summer months and 104 in winter. As the only cabin camp equipped with heating systems, Cabin Camp 5 operates year-round, distinguishing it from the other seasonal camps in the park. The camp facilities include a dining hall with a complete kitchen, craft lodges for activities, a central fire pit, an infirmary building, and the unique feature of an outdoor picnic pavilion located within the camp boundaries. The rustic setting maintains the historic character of the Depression-era construction while providing essential modern amenities including hot showers, flush toilets, and potable water available year-round. Groups can enjoy the surrounding 15,000-acre forest with miles of hiking trails and peaceful natural surroundings. Access to Cabin Camp 5 requires traveling on a gravel road (Mawavi Road), and the entire camp must be reserved as a single unit, making it ideal for large groups, scout troops, church groups, or family reunions. The camp operates on a reservation-only basis requiring at least two weeks advance notice. Summer rates are $900 per night while winter rates are $750 per night, not including the $20 per vehicle park entrance fee.
