About

Cabin Camp 1 represents the finest example of early CCC construction in Prince William Forest Park, completed in the 1930s as the first of five group cabin camps. The camp showcases beautiful rustic architecture with stone foundations, massive fireplaces, and whole log supports that demonstrate the craftsmanship and use of native materials by the Civilian Conservation Corps. While the dining hall and craft lodges retain their original 1930s character, the sleeping cabins were rebuilt in the 1980s and are distributed across multiple units, accommodating 2 to 10 campers per cabin for a total capacity of 205 visitors. The facility is rented as a complete unit and includes a full dining hall with commercial kitchen, craft lodges for activities, an infirmary, and a central fire pit. Hot showers and flush toilets are available year-round in the comfort stations. Some cabins in the D unit feature semi-wheelchair accessibility, though routes throughout the camp contain slopes and unpaved surfaces. The camp operates under strict regulations including quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., no pets allowed (except service animals), no smoking in buildings, and no camping tents or additional structures permitted.
