About
Cabin Camp 2 first hosted campers in 1937 and formerly served as Camp Mawavi, operated by the Campfire Girls of America. This historic facility spans approximately 132 acres and can accommodate up to 149 visitors. The camp primarily consists of 4-person cabins with a few 2 and 6-person cabins mixed throughout. The cabins are clustered in circular arrangements called units, each containing 8 cabins, a bath house, and a lodge situated in grassy clearings surrounded by dense forest. Among the cabin camps in Prince William Forest Park, Camp 2 features one of the best ballfields and excellent lake access. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the camp includes a dining hall with complete kitchen facilities, craft lodges, and council rings. The rustic cabins were built for group camping experiences and maintain their historic character. All cabins feature basic sleeping accommodations without electrical appliances. The camp operates as a group rental facility only, requiring reservation of the entire camp at least two weeks in advance through a written application process. The site is typically open from mid-April through early November, though exact dates vary by year. Cabin Camp 2 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, preserving its legacy as part of the park's Depression-era development.
