Construction Vehicles on Scenic Drive
On a section of Scenic Drive near Cabin Camp 3, a culvert under the road was recently replaced. Use caution and follow posted speed limits. Be aware of construction vehicles on the roadway in this area.
Playground in Pine Grove Picnic Area Closed
The park is improving accessibility at the playground in Pine Grove Picnic Area. During construction, until approximately the end of December 2025, the playground is closed and 10 nearby parking spaces will be used for construction vehicles only.
About
Telegraph Picnic Pavilion is a covered pavilion facility located in Prince William Forest Park, 35 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. The pavilion features approximately 12 picnic tables in full shade, with some wheelchair-accessible tables available. The facility is equipped with electrical outlets, a grill, and a water spigot, making it suitable for family reunions, corporate outings, and group gatherings of up to 40 people. The pavilion is situated behind the park visitor center, approximately 1.5 miles from the park entrance. Ample parking and a bike rack are available nearby. Adjacent restrooms, additional picnic tables, and a ballfield are accessible to all park visitors on a first-come, first-served basis. Prince William Forest Park preserves approximately 15,000 acres of Piedmont forest and offers 37 miles of hiking trails, 21 miles of paved roads for bicycling, and opportunities for fishing and orienteering. The park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression and represents one of the largest parcels of undeveloped land in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.
Directions
From Washington, D.C., and points north, take I-95 south to exit 150-B toward VA Route 619/Joplin Road. The park entrance is the second right. The Telegraph Picnic Pavilion is located behind the visitor center, approximately 1.5 miles from the park entrance. From Fredericksburg, Virginia, and points south, take I-95 north to exit 150 toward VA Route 619/Joplin Road. Turn left at the bottom of the exit ramp and continue on VA Route 619 West approximately 1/4 mile to the park entrance.
