Closed — Closed for the season. Gate closed and water is off. Typically opens mid to late May or early June and closes early to mid-October depending on temperatures.

Alcohol Prohibitions

This Order describes acts that are prohibited upon lands, roads and trails within the National Forest System administered by the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region in regards to alcoholic beverages.

Aquatic Invasive Species

This Order prohibits 1) possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic invasive animal species AND 2) prohibits possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic or riparian invasive plant species - on National Forest System lands in the Pacific Northwest Region as specified in the Order.

Restrictions on Use of Forage and Mulch Products

This Order prohibits unloading, storing, or using any straw, hay, grain, seed, or other forage or mulch products that are not state-certified weed free on the National Forest System lands, roads or trails in any Closure Area as specific in the Order.

Malheur Falls Post Fire Hazards Closure

Prohibitions1.   Entering into or being upon an area closed for the protection of public health and safety. 36 CFR § 261.53(e).2.   Being on a National Forest System Road. 36 CFR § 261.54(c) and (e).

14 Day Stay Limit

Prohibition of Camping on the Umatilla, Wallowa-Whitman, and Malheur National Forests for a period longer than 14 days within any 30-day period. 36 CFR § 261.58(a)

Trout Farm Campground offers a relaxing getaway for families and fishing enthusiasts in the Malheur National Forest. The campground's main attraction is its stocked fishing pond, complete with a barrier-free path and accessible fishing pier, making it ideal for anglers of all abilities. A newly renovated covered picnic shelter provides a gathering space for groups. The campground is situated near the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness, providing a great base for exploring the surrounding area. In addition to pond fishing, visitors can enjoy stream fishing, picnicking, and hunting opportunities. The site is set in a forested environment approximately 13 miles from Prairie City. During warmer months when the campground is open, drinking water is available from a hand pump. Visitors should be aware that blue-green algae blooms can occur in warmer weather. The campground operates on a 14-day stay limit and requires all visitors to pack out their trash.

Directions

From Prairie City, turn onto South Main Street. Follow to the junction with Bridge Street. Turn left onto Bridge Street and continue past the local cemetery. The road changes to County Road 62. Continue on County Road 62 approximately 13 miles; the campground will be on the right.
