About

Slide Creek Campground sits along Slide Creek at the northern edge of the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness in Malheur National Forest. This primitive campground features 3 sites nestled among ponderosa pine trees and offers excellent access to wilderness recreation. The campground serves as a trailhead for Slide Connector Trail #386, which leads into the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness, and is located just 1.5 miles from Strawberry Campground and the Strawberry Basin Trailhead. The campground provides basic amenities including picnic tables, fire pits, and vault toilets, but no potable water is available. Campers should bring their own water and pack out all trash. Stream fishing is available in Slide Creek, and the area offers excellent opportunities for hiking, hunting, and wilderness exploration. Wilderness regulations apply once you enter the wilderness area, where motorized vehicles and mountain bikes are prohibited. This is a free, first-come, first-served campground with no reservations accepted. With only 3 sites, it offers a quiet, secluded camping experience. Check-in is at 2:00 p.m., check-out at 12:00 p.m., with quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Campers should be prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions and follow pack-it-in, pack-it-out principles.
