About
Slide Creek Campground is a primitive, no-fee campground managed by the Prairie City Ranger District in Malheur National Forest. Situated along Slide Creek at the northern boundary of the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness, the campground sits among ponderosa pines and offers direct wilderness access via the Slide Connector Trail #386. The campground provides vault toilets but no potable water, so visitors must bring their own water supply. It operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day stay limit within any 30-day period. The nearby wilderness trail system connects to Strawberry Campground and the Strawberry Basin Trailhead, just 1.5 miles away. Recreation opportunities include stream fishing on Slide Creek, hiking into the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness, and hunting in season. Wilderness regulations apply to connecting trails, prohibiting motorized equipment and mountain bikes.
