About
Big Creek Campground sits at the edge of beautiful Logan Valley along Big Creek in the Malheur National Forest, positioned at the southern side of the Strawberry Mountains. The campground serves as an excellent base camp for multiple recreation opportunities including mountain biking, hiking, stream fishing, hunting, and bird watching. The nearby Big Creek/Snowshoe Trailhead provides direct access to the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness, with trails climbing roughly 2,300 feet in elevation over 5 miles. The area is particularly exceptional for wildflower viewing in spring and early summer. Big Creek flows directly through the area, and Logan Valley's scenic landscape provides a beautiful backdrop for camping. During operational months, the campground offers vault toilets and hand-pumped drinking water. Sites include picnic tables and fire rings. During winter months, deep snow levels make the campground accessible only by snowmobile, ski, or snowshoe, and it becomes part of a network of snowmobile trails. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. The remote location and proximity to wilderness areas make it popular with those seeking a quieter camping experience away from more developed areas.
