Closed — Closed for the season. The season gate is closed and water is shut off. The campground typically operates May 1 through October 31. Camping is limited to 14 consecutive days.
Alcohol Prohibitions
This Order describes acts that are prohibited upon lands, roads and trails within the National Forest System administered by the Forest Service Pacific Northwest Region in regards to alcoholic beverages.
Aquatic Invasive Species
This Order prohibits 1) possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic invasive animal species AND 2) prohibits possessing, storing, or transporting any aquatic or riparian invasive plant species - on National Forest System lands in the Pacific Northwest Region as specified in the Order.
Restrictions on Use of Forage and Mulch Products
This Order prohibits unloading, storing, or using any straw, hay, grain, seed, or other forage or mulch products that are not state-certified weed free on the National Forest System lands, roads or trails in any Closure Area as specific in the Order.
Malheur Falls Post Fire Hazards Closure

14 Day Stay Limit
Prohibition of Camping on the Umatilla, Wallowa-Whitman, and Malheur National Forests for a period longer than 14 days within any 30-day period. 36 CFR § 261.58(a)
About
Strawberry Campground is located at the edge of the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness in the Malheur National Forest, set amongst ponderosa pine in a beautifully wooded area. The campground serves as an excellent starting point for anyone wanting to hike, hunt, fish, or simply relax in a peaceful mountain setting. The Strawberry Basin Trailhead is located at the campground, providing immediate access to Trail #375, which connects to other trails throughout the wilderness. This allows for day hiking or extended backpacking trips deeper into the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness. The area is popular with big game hunters during fall elk and deer seasons, and offers stream fishing opportunities. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis from May through October, with sites costing $8 per night and an additional vehicle fee of $4. Amenities include vault toilets and hand-pumped drinking water during the operating season. The 14-day stay limit applies. Access is via County Road 60 and Forest Service Road 6001 from Prairie City, approximately 9 miles total distance.
Directions
From Prairie City, turn onto South Main Street to Bridge Street. Turn left, then after 0.2 miles turn right onto Bridge Street again. Continue out of city limits where the road becomes County Road 60. Follow for approximately 7 miles until it becomes Forest Service Road 6001. Continue on FS Road 6001 for approximately 2 miles to the campground.
