Currently closed. The campground typically opens the week prior to Memorial Day weekend and closes October 31. Dry camping only when open; no potable water available.

About

Trinity River Campground is a compact, primitive facility located on the banks of the Trinity River along State Route 3, approximately 36 miles north of Weaverville and two miles north of the Coffee Creek area in Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The campground offers 7 single sites with paved spurs averaging around 16 feet of back-in space, making it suitable for tent campers and smaller trailers. Each campsite is equipped with a concrete picnic table and fire ring with grill. The campground has vault toilets but no potable water, so campers must bring their own drinking water or be prepared to filter from nearby sources. The facility operates first-come, first-served with no advance reservations. Payment is made on-site via iron ranger (cash or check accepted) or through the Recreation.gov Scan & Pay mobile app. The location along the Trinity River offers access to fishing for rainbow trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass, catfish, and salmon. Trinity Lake is approximately 18 miles away with a public boat ramp at Bowerman (water level dependent). The campground is popular with travelers using Highway 3 as an overnight stop.

Directions

From Weaverville, take Highway 3 north for approximately 38 miles. The campground is on the left side of Highway 3, two miles north of Coffee Creek.
