About

Trinity River Campground is located on Highway 3, approximately 38 miles north of Weaverville and two miles north of the Coffee Creek area. Situated on the banks of the Trinity River, this primitive 7-site campground is especially popular with travelers seeking a convenient overnight stop along Highway 3. The facility features paved roads and spurs that can accommodate both tent campers and trailers, with an average back-in length of 16 feet. Each site includes a concrete picnic table and fire ring with grill. The campground has vault toilets but no potable water, so visitors should bring their own water or be prepared to treat water from nearby sources. The Trinity River location provides opportunities for fishing, with the area known for bass, trout, and salmon. The campground operates on a first-come-first-served basis, requiring visitors to be physically present to claim and pay for a site the day they occupy it. Managed by Shasta Recreation Company (Vista), the campground is situated in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, the largest national forest in California. The area offers access to multiple hiking trails and numerous recreational opportunities on nearby Trinity Lake, including boating, fishing, and water skiing.
