About

Goldfield Campground is a free, primitive campground tucked into the Coffee Creek area of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest in Trinity County, California. The campground offers a quiet, backcountry experience for those seeking solitude away from the more developed recreation sites around Trinity Lake. Amenities are basic: the campground has a vault toilet, picnic tables, and fire rings at sites. There is no potable water on site, so campers must bring an adequate supply or be prepared to filter and treat water from nearby Coffee Creek. No fees are charged. The campground accommodates horse camping, making it a useful basecamp for riders exploring the surrounding forest trails. Access is via Coffee Creek Road off Highway 3, about 41 miles north of Weaverville. The road crosses a bridge over Coffee Creek to reach the campground. The area is generally accessible when dry but may close during heavy snow conditions in winter.

Directions

From Weaverville, take Hwy 3 north for 36.6 miles. Turn left onto Coffee Creek Road for 4.7 miles. Turn left onto bridge over Coffee Creek to the campground.
