About

Tree of Heaven Campground occupies a historically significant stretch of flat land along the Wild and Scenic Klamath River in the Klamath National Forest. In the 1800s, Chinese immigrants lived and farmed on this land, selling vegetables to miners and working in local mines. They planted Trees of Heaven, imported from their homeland, which still shade the campground today. Situated at 2,100 feet elevation and just 7 miles from Interstate 5, the campground offers convenient access to excellent river recreation. The Klamath River provides class II-III whitewater boating opportunities and quality fishing. The shaded, grassy campsites make this a comfortable base for water-based activities. A quarter-mile interpretive trail teaches visitors about the area's cultural and natural history. The campground features a large group day-use area with a volleyball net and horseshoe pit. This is bear country, so all food must be secured overnight and when unattended. The road into the campground is steep, narrow, and winding. Some campsites are reservable through Recreation.gov while others operate first-come, first-served.

Directions

From I-5, take exit 786 for Highway 96 (Klamath River Highway). Follow Highway 96 west approximately 7 miles. The campground entrance is on the left down a steep, narrow, winding road (Road 46N90).
