About

Tree of Heaven Campground occupies a stretch of flat land along the Klamath Wild and Scenic River where Chinese immigrants once farmed and sold vegetables to miners in the 1800s. They planted the Tree of Heaven species to remind them of their homeland, giving the campground its name. Today the site offers 21 shaded, grassy campsites at 2,100 feet elevation, a short distance from the State of Jefferson Scenic Byway. The campground is a hub for river recreation. A paved boat ramp provides direct access to Class II-III whitewater, and the Klamath River draws anglers year-round. Beyond the water, a quarter-mile interpretive trail winds through the area, and a large group day use area includes a volleyball net and horseshoe pit. This is bear country. All food must be secured in approved containers overnight and when unattended. Dogs are allowed on leash only. The access road is steep, narrow, and winding, so large RVs should plan accordingly.

Directions

From I-5, take exit 786 for Highway 96 (Klamath River Highway). Head west on Highway 96 for approximately 7 miles. The campground entrance is on the left; turn onto road 46N90 and head down the hill.
