About
Mt. Ashland Campground sits at 6,000 feet elevation along the scenic Siskiyou Crest, offering experienced campers a true backcountry experience with no fees, no reservations, and minimal amenities. The campground features nine sites with a mix of drive-in and walk-in options, each equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water or garbage service, so campers must pack in all water and pack out all trash. The high-elevation location provides stunning views and excellent access to the Pacific Crest Trail, making this a popular staging area for PCT hikers and day-trippers alike. The Siskiyou Crest is renowned for its exceptional wildflower displays, butterfly populations, and bird watching opportunities during the short summer season. Due to the elevation, the campground is only accessible when Forest Road 20 is clear of snow, typically from June through October depending on weather conditions. The drive-in sites accommodate only small trailers due to the mountain road and site configurations. Campers should bring adequate drinking water for their entire stay plus extra water to fully extinguish campfires.
Directions
From I-5, head west on Forest Road 20 approximately 10.5 miles to the campground on the left, one mile past Mt. Ashland Ski Resort.
