About

Trap Creek Campground sits in a beautiful valley at 6,670 feet elevation at the foot of the Sawtooth Mountain Range in central Idaho. This small campground features one group site that consists of three smaller sites, accommodating up to 40 people. When the group site is not reserved, the individual sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Summer wildflowers are plentiful throughout the area, and a mixed stand of pines provides partial shade. Trap Creek flows adjacent to the campground, adding to the scenic mountain setting. The campground is situated within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, providing access to exceptional outdoor recreation. An estimated 750 miles of trails crisscross the valley and surrounding mountains, including the Idaho Centennial Trail which passes directly through the site. Expansive and scenic Elk Meadow near the campground provides excellent opportunities for bird and wildlife watching. Numerous sparkling lakes and streams dot the area, offering great fishing for rainbow and native Westslope cutthroat trout. Stanley and Redfish Lakes are nearby for boating, water skiing, canoeing, and kayaking.
