About

Stanley Lake Campground is located on a hillside above Stanley Lake at the foot of the Sawtooth Mountains within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. Set in a thick grove of lodgepole pines at 6,500 feet elevation, the campground features 17 reservable sites and additional first-come, first-served sites. Most campsites have partial shade and offer views of Stanley Lake and the rugged 9,860-foot McGowan Peak. A scenic overlook adjacent to sites 3 and 4 provides outstanding photographic opportunities. Stanley Lake provides excellent water recreation including boating, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing for rainbow, cutthroat, brook, and bull trout. A boat ramp is located just outside the campground. The Idaho Centennial Trail passes nearby and can be accessed from the Stanley Lake Trailhead across the lake. The campground lies within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, which offers approximately 750 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails throughout the valley and surrounding mountains. Summer temperatures are cool, with average highs around 78 degrees and lows around 40 degrees.

Directions

Travel 4.5 miles west of Stanley, Idaho on State Highway 21. Turn on paved Stanley Lake Road and drive 3 miles to the campground.
