About

Trail Creek Campground is one of five campgrounds located along the Middle Fork of the Payette River corridor north of Garden Valley in the Boise National Forest. Perched on a hillside above the river at 3,662 feet elevation, the campground offers 12 sites with a mix of pull-through and back-in configurations that can accommodate RVs up to 35 feet in length. The campground is managed by the Emmett Ranger District and typically operates with a camp host during the season. The Middle Fork of the Payette River provides excellent fishing opportunities, with some of the best water located upstream from the campground. Anglers willing to hike to less accessible areas can find productive fishing spots. The area displays beautiful fall colors in September and offers opportunities to view wildlife including deer, elk, black bear, fox, and various bird species. Several OHV trails including One Spoon Trail, Rattlesnake Trail, and 465 ATV Trail are accessible from the vicinity of the campground, making this a popular base for off-highway vehicle enthusiasts. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring with attached grate. The campground features two vault toilets and a hand pump well for potable water. There is no electrical service, trash collection, or dump station. Campers must pack out their garbage. Silver Creek Plunge, located 9 miles north, offers a swimming pool and small convenience store. The area sees heavy use during peak season, though primitive camping sites are available along the river for overflow.
