Flat Fire GNA Salvage Road and Trail Closure

About

Boiling Springs Cabin is a popular Forest Service rental cabin located in the Boise National Forest, offering a unique backcountry experience with the convenience of adjacent natural hot springs. The cabin sits at 4,025 feet elevation in a narrow mountain valley between hot springs, a stream, and the Middle Fork Payette River, surrounded by steep, densely forested mountains yet positioned in an open meadow. The cabin accommodates up to 5 people and includes one bedroom with three rustic single beds (one trundle), plus a front room with couch, table, chairs, propane cook stove and refrigerator, sink, and wood stove for heat. A vault toilet, picnic table, and fire ring are outside. Water is available via hand pump in summer only; guests must bring water in winter. Firewood is provided October 15 through December 31. The cabin area is open to the general public, resulting in foot traffic from day visitors to the hot springs. Recreational opportunities abound year-round. Summer activities include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, OHV trails, fishing for rainbow and bull trout in the Middle Fork Payette River, and whitewater sports. Winter brings miles of groomed snowmobile trails, plus opportunities for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Wildlife viewing includes ospreys, bald eagles, elk, and deer. Access is by vehicle in summer (24 miles north of Crouch on FR 698) or by snowmobile in winter (11 miles from the Middle Fork parking lot).

Summer: From Crouch, take Middle Fork Road (Forest Road 698) north 24 miles to the cabin. Winter: From Crouch, take Middle Fork Road (Forest Road 698) north 13 miles to the snowmobile parking lot at the end of the plowed road just north of Tie Creek Campground. Snowmobile 11 miles to the cabin.
