About

Koomer Ridge Campground is located in the heart of the Red River Gorge on the Cumberland District of Daniel Boone National Forest in eastern Kentucky. The developed campground provides 54 shaded, wooded campsites suitable for tent camping, with 19 sites that can accommodate RVs and trailers without hookups. An amphitheater and bathhouse with seasonal showers complement the camping experience. The campground serves as a primary entry point for exploring the Red River Gorge's dramatic sandstone cliffs and natural arches. Four trailheads depart directly from the campground: Cliff Trail, Silvermine Arch Trail, Hidden Arch Trail, and Koomer Ridge Trail, providing access to over 50 miles of interconnected trails throughout the gorge. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table. Potable water, flush toilets, and showers operate seasonally from April 1 through October 31. Vault toilets remain accessible year-round. Campers should note that fires are prohibited in rock shelters throughout the area, and firewood should not be transported from outside the region.

Directions

Traveling east on the Mountain Parkway, take exit 33 at Slade. Turn left and then right onto KY 15. The campground is 5 miles on the left.
