About

Tower Rock Campground sits along the scenic Salmon River corridor in central Idaho, managed by the BLM Salmon Field Office. The Lewis and Clark Expedition camped at this very site, and the distinctive Tower Rock formation above the campground was described by William Clark as a "Clift of dark brown flint." The Precambrian quartzite visible here is some of the oldest rock in Idaho. The campground offers 4 standard nonelectric RV sites, 2 tent-only sites, and 6 extra vehicle parking spaces. Each campsite features an accessible picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Amenities include double vault toilets, paved campsites and pathways, accessible interpretive panels, and group shelters. A boat ramp provides direct access to the Salmon River for rafters and anglers pursuing steelhead and trout. The surrounding area offers motorized and non-motorized trails, hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing. Nearby Tower Pyramids Day Use Area features hoodoo-type sandstone formations near another Corps of Discovery campsite.
