About
Cougar Point Campground sits at 6,600 feet elevation in the heart of the Salmon River Mountains within the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The campground offers 18 primitive campsites nestled in a heavily timbered setting of mixed conifers, providing a secluded mountain camping experience. This free campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with a 14-day stay limit. Short hiking trails extend north, south, and west from the campground, making it a good base for exploring the surrounding wilderness. Big game hunting is permitted in season. Campers should come prepared with their own water supply as potable water is not available on site.
