About
Shoup Bridge Campground is an easily accessible, paved RV-friendly campground managed by the Bureau of Land Management that offers numerous riverfront sites along the main Salmon River. The mature cottonwood trees provide ample shade and wildlife habitat for all sites, and the sound of the Salmon River running by creates a peaceful atmosphere. The site is named after George Shoup, the first Governor of Idaho, who later became a U.S. Senator.
The campground's boat ramp is a popular launch site for rafters and anglers exploring the Salmon River. River access provides opportunities for rafting, fishing, tubing, and swimming. Only hatchery steelhead, identifiable by a clipped adipose fin, can be kept, and barbless hooks are required. The campground sits at the end of a 5-mile paved non-motorized path (Highway 93 Pathway) that leads into the town of Salmon, making it ideal for cyclists and pedestrians.
Located just 5 miles south of Salmon on Highway 93, the surrounding area offers a multitude of recreation opportunities including motorized and non-motorized trails, hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing. The convenient location between the highway and the Salmon River makes it easily accessible while maintaining a natural riverside setting.
