About
Wallace Lake Campground offers a remote camping experience in the Salmon-Challis National Forest, surrounded by deep pine forests and sweeping views of the Salmon River Range. The 12 campsites are positioned along Wallace Lake, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring for evening campfires. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided on-site. The campground is best suited for tent campers and those with high-clearance vehicles. Forest Road 020, the final approach to the campground, is unpaved and rough, making it unsuitable for RVs or vehicles towing trailers. A primitive boat launch allows paddlers to access the lake with canoes or rowboats, though motorized boats are not permitted. Fishing in the lake is a primary draw for visitors. This is a first-come, first-served campground with no advance reservations. The remote setting and lack of hookups or showers keeps the experience rustic and uncrowded.
Directions
From Salmon, go 3 miles north on US 93, 14 miles northwest on Forest Road 023, and 4 miles south on FR 020. Forest roads are unpaved and rough. FR 020 is not recommended for RVs or cars pulling trailers.
