About
Topsail Hill Preserve State Park Campground sits within a 1,600-acre preserve along the Gulf of Mexico, offering access to 3.2 miles of secluded white quartz sand beaches. The park is named for its dramatic dunes that rise 25 feet above sea level like ship sails. The campground features 156 RV sites with full hookups including 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer, plus 22 tent sites with elevated pads, fire rings, and electric/water hookups. Climate-controlled bathhouses with showers serve both areas, and the facility includes laundry, shuffleboard courts, and a campground store. The preserve encompasses a rare coastal ecosystem of freshwater dune lakes surrounded by ancient dunes and maritime forest. Over 15 miles of trails wind through old-growth longleaf pine forests, sandy scrubland, dunes, and wetlands where visitors may encounter 13 imperiled species. The Beach Tram trail and Campbell Lake trail are paved for easy biking, while other trails like the Morris Lake trail pass through ancient dunes and remnants of WWII's JB-2 rocket development program. The park is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, attracting birdwatchers seeking red-shouldered hawks, ospreys, bald eagles, and threatened snowy plovers. Fishing opportunities abound in both the Gulf waters and freshwater dune lakes stocked with bass, panfish, and catfish.
