About

Eastern Lake Campground 1 sits within Point Washington State Forest, a 15,400-acre forest in Walton County comprised of diverse natural communities including sandhills, mesic flatwoods, and cypress swamps. The primitive campground offers four tent-only sites arranged around a scenic loop in the forest, each with a 14'x20' tent pad, picnic table, barbecue grill, fire ring, and lantern hanger. All sites share a communal outhouse. This is pack-in, pack-out camping with no water or electric hookups available. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the forest's extensive trail system. The Eastern Lake Trail offers three double-track loop options of 3.5, 5, or 10 miles for hikers and mountain bikers. The Longleaf Greenway Trail extends approximately 8 miles as a spur from the Eastern Lake Trailhead. The forest is also part of the Florida Scenic Trail and Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, making it popular for wildlife viewing, bird watching, and photography. Other activities include fishing on Eastern Lake, hunting in season, and exploring the diverse ecosystems. The forest's location provides easy access to Gulf Coast beaches, with the South Walton beaches along 30A directly south and Panama City Beach about 10 miles east.
