About

Pine Log Primitive Campsites sits within Pine Log State Forest, Florida's first state forest acquired in 1936. The three tent-only sites are dispersed along scenic Pine Log Creek, offering a true backcountry experience about 14 miles north of Panama City Beach. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table, but campers must be fully self-sufficient as there is no potable water, electricity, or restroom facilities. The surrounding 7,000-acre forest encompasses diverse natural communities including sandhills, flatwoods, cypress ponds, and titi swamps. Recreational opportunities abound with fishing and swimming in Pine Log Creek, kayaking and canoeing, hiking and mountain biking trails, and horseback riding on designated trails. The forest is part of the Florida Scenic Trail and the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, making it excellent for wildlife viewing and photography.
