About

Sand Pond Campground is situated in Pine Log State Forest in Washington County, Florida, approximately 14 miles north of Panama City Beach. Acquired in 1936, Pine Log State Forest was Florida's first state forest and is named for Pine Log Creek, which flows through the property. The approximately 7,000-acre forest encompasses diverse natural communities including sand hills, flatwoods, cypress ponds, and titi swamps, providing habitat for indigenous animal and plant species. The campground offers 20 developed campsites, many positioned along the scenic shores of Sand Pond. Sites accommodate RVs and tents with driveway lengths ranging from 23 to 42 feet, suitable for various camping setups. The facility includes restrooms with showers, a dump station, a pavilion, and a fishing pier. Campsites provide electric and water hookups, fire rings, and picnic tables. Recreational opportunities abound at Pine Log State Forest, with designated trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. The forest is part of the Florida Scenic Trail and Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail systems. Activities include fishing in Sand Pond, swimming, canoeing, birding, wildlife viewing, photography, and hunting in designated areas. The forest's varied habitats attract diverse wildlife and offer excellent opportunities for nature enthusiasts to explore Florida's natural environment.
