About
Tompkins Bend Day-Use Area on Lake Ouachita is an ideal spot for family gatherings, reunions, or group retreats in the scenic Ouachita National Forest. The centerpiece is a large group pavilion equipped with electrical hookups, picnic tables, and lighting, suitable for events and day gatherings. Additional amenities include bathroom facilities, a playground for children, and a grassy, wooded area with scenic lake views.
The location provides direct access to Lake Ouachita's 40,000 acres of crystal-clear water, perfect for water skiing, jet skiing, fishing, and boating. The site also connects to the Lake Ouachita Vista Trail, a scenic hiking route that meanders across the south end of the lake through the Ouachita Mountains. Wildlife enthusiasts may spot bobcats, black bears, deer, and bald eagles, particularly during winter months. The combination of lake access, forest scenery, and recreational facilities makes this a versatile destination for day outings.
