About

Joplin Campground sits on a narrow peninsula extending into Lake Ouachita, offering campers scenic views of the water and surrounding Ouachita Mountains. The lake spans over 40,000 acres and is prized as one of the clearest in the nation, making it ideal for scuba diving, swimming, and fishing. World-class striper fishing is available, and wildlife watchers may spot bobcats or even rare freshwater jellyfish. All 59 campsites feature electric hookups with water faucets located in each loop. The campground provides flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, and fish cleaning station. Each site includes a concrete picnic table and ground grill. A boat ramp and swim beach provide direct lake access. Due to the natural terrain, campsite pads vary significantly in size and levelness. Sites 35-63 have particularly uneven ground. The campground is not recommended for large RVs, trailers, or units with slide-outs. The narrow peninsula setting trades flat terrain for exceptional waterfront access.
