Continued hot and sunny weather conditions may allow ozone concentrations to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category on Tuesday and Wednesday. The transport of wildfire smoke may increase particle pollution levels, reaching the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category, or worse, at times. For Colorado air quality conditions, forecasts, and advisories, visit: https://www.colorado.gov/airquality/colorado_summary.aspx If possible, please help us reduce ozone pollution by limiting driving gas and diesel-powered vehicles until at least 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026. This order describes the prohibition of wheeled vehicles in all National Forest Wilderness Areas of the Rocky Mountain Region and any exceptions thereof.
About
Tom Bennett Campground provides a remote, primitive camping experience in Roosevelt National Forest near Pingree Park. Situated at 9,000 feet elevation in a lodgepole pine forest, the campground sits adjacent to the South Fork Cache la Poudre River, offering stream fishing and access to nearby hiking trails including the Hourglass Trail. The campground has 10 sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire grate. Vault toilets are available, but campers must bring their own water as none is provided on-site. The facility is older and sites have parking spurs ranging from 15-25 feet, making it unsuitable for larger RVs or trailers. Access is via Pingree Park Road (County Road 63E) off Highway 14, approximately 17 miles south of the highway junction. Sites accommodate up to 8 people each, and dogs are allowed on leash. The campground operates first-come, first-served with no reservations available.
Directions
From Fort Collins, drive 10 miles north on US Highway 287. Turn left (west) onto Highway 14 and proceed 26 miles. Turn left (south) onto Pingree Park Road (County Road 63E) and drive approximately 17 miles to the campground.
