Continued hot and sunny weather conditions may allow ozone concentrations to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category on Tuesday and Wednesday. The transport of wildfire smoke may increase particle pollution levels, reaching the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category, or worse, at times. For Colorado air quality conditions, forecasts, and advisories, visit: https://www.colorado.gov/airquality/colorado_summary.aspx If possible, please help us reduce ozone pollution by limiting driving gas and diesel-powered vehicles until at least 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026. This order describes the prohibition of wheeled vehicles in all National Forest Wilderness Areas of the Rocky Mountain Region and any exceptions thereof.
About
Dutch George Campground is a lower-elevation campground in Roosevelt National Forest, positioned directly adjacent to Colorado Highway 14 and the Cache la Poudre River. The setting is primarily an open flat area with cottonwood and ponderosa pine trees clustered in the riparian zone, offering shade to some campsites near the river. The campground features 20 sites available on a first-come, first-served basis at $29 per night. Each site includes a tent pad, fire grate, and picnic table. Potable water is available from a hand pump, and vault toilets are provided. The paved interior road and parking spurs ranging from 30 to 70 feet make this campground well-suited for larger RVs. Sites accommodate up to eight people each. Tents must fit on the provided pads, and all vehicles must fit within the parking spur since off-road driving or parking is prohibited. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a hand-held leash. Popular activities include fishing in the Cache la Poudre River, four-wheel driving on nearby forest roads, and simply relaxing by the scenic river.
Directions
Drive 10 miles north of Fort Collins on U.S. Highway 287. Turn left (west) onto Colorado Highway 14 and drive approximately 21 miles to the campground.
