WHERE...Douglas, Jefferson, Denver, western Arapahoe, western Adams, Broomfield, Boulder, Larimer, and Weld Counties WHEN...400 PM Monday July 20 to 400 PM Tuesday July 21 IMPACTS...Ozone Action Day Alert is now in effect for the Front Range Urban Corridor. Hot and stagnant weather conditions will result in ozone concentrations reaching the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category both Monday and Tuesday during the afternoon and evening hours. About
Jacks Gulch Campground sits at 8,100 feet in the Roosevelt National Forest, 48 miles northwest of Fort Collins. The ponderosa pine forest setting is interspersed with aspen groves and grassy meadows abundant with wildflowers during the camping season. The campground offers diverse accommodations: the Columbine Loop provides 27 sites with electrical hookups plus 10 walk-in tent sites, while the Yarrow Loop offers 28 non-electric sites for a more primitive experience. A distinctive feature is the equestrian camp with 5 sites, each equipped with four horse stalls and space for horse trailers. A separate group site accommodates up to 60 overnight guests with electric hookups for up to nine RVs. The area serves as a base for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, with a nature trail circling the recreation area that provides striking views of the Mummy Range. All sites include fire grates and picnic tables, with vault toilets and potable water available throughout. Bear lockers are provided at some sites due to the area's active bear population. Firewood collection is restricted to prevent pest spread.
Directions
From Fort Collins, drive 10 miles north on Highway 287. Turn left (west) onto Highway 14 and continue approximately 26 miles. Turn left (south) onto Pingree Park Road (County Road 63E) and proceed approximately 6 miles to the campground.
