About

Toketee Lake Campground provides a tranquil setting where the Wild and Scenic North Umpqua River forms Toketee Lake at a dam. The campground features 33 sites nestled among willow, maple, and alder trees, offering a picturesque spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts to relax. The lake is known for excellent German brown trout fishing and supports a diverse wildlife population including beaver, otter, great blue heron, kingfishers, and in fall and winter, ducks, geese, and bald eagles. A nearby footbridge offers scenic views of the river and lake. The campground serves as an ideal base camp for exploring the surrounding area. Located next to a trailhead for the North Umpqua Trail, visitors can access this renowned route for mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding. Two spectacular waterfalls are within a five-minute drive: Watson Falls, at 272 feet high with a short trail to its base, and Toketee Falls, a stunning two-level cascade flowing from basalt column walls with a viewing platform less than half a mile down the trail. Umpqua Hot Springs is also nearby, just a few miles away. The campground is operated by a concessionaire under permit from the Umpqua National Forest. Due to ongoing dam repair, Toketee Lake water levels are currently 2-3 feet lower than the boat ramp, making small non-powered boats the best option for lake access. Sites are generally level and can accommodate both tents and RVs. The campground provides vault toilets but no potable water, so campers must bring their own. Limited garbage services are available, and visitors are encouraged to pack out trash.
