About

Toketee Group Site offers a picturesque gathering spot along the Wild and Scenic North Umpqua River where it meets Toketee Lake, a reservoir formed by a dam. The tranquil setting is lined with willows, maples, and alders, providing habitat for beaver, otter, great blue heron, kingfishers, and seasonal waterfowl including bald eagles. A nearby footbridge offers scenic views of the river and lake. The campground is popular with anglers pursuing German Brown trout and serves as a base camp for mountain bikers exploring the North Umpqua Trail, which has a trailhead adjacent to the site. The trail is also favored by hikers and horseback riders. Due to ongoing dam repair, the lake level sits 2-3 feet below the boat ramp, making small non-powered boats most practical. Two spectacular waterfalls are within five minutes: Watson Falls plunges 272 feet with a short trail to its base, while Toketee Falls cascades in two tiers from basalt columns with a viewing platform less than a half mile down the trail. Umpqua Hot Springs is another nearby attraction. The campground has limited trash services, so visitors should be prepared to pack out their garbage.

Directions

From Roseburg, travel east on OR-138 for 60 miles, turn left onto Forest Road 34 at milepost 59. Keep left at the bottom of the hill and cross a concrete bridge. Proceed 1.5 miles to the campground entrance on the right.
