About
Sugar Loaf Park is located on Greers Ferry Lake in the scenic Ozark Mountains of north-central Arkansas, providing an ideal base for family camping, fishing, boating, and hiking. The campground offers 70 campsites, with 55 featuring electric hookups and 15 non-electric sites spread across four loops. Facilities include both flush and vault toilets, hot showers, drinking water, a dump station, playground, picnic shelter, and a boat launch ramp for direct lake access. The surrounding forest features a dense mix of red cedar, black gum, red oak, elm, pecan, and sweet gum trees that provide ample shade during summer and spectacular fall colors. Wildlife is abundant, with frequent sightings of white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, and diverse bird species. Greers Ferry Lake spans over 30,000 acres and offers excellent opportunities for boating, sailing, water skiing, swimming, scuba diving, and fishing. A unique feature is the adjacent Sugar Loaf Mountain Island National Nature Trail, located on an island within the lake. This 1.5-mile trail must be accessed by boat but rewards hikers with impressive panoramic views from 1,001 feet above sea level, overlooking the surrounding lake and countryside.
