About
Timber Creek Dispersed Campground is a primitive camping area located in the Snowy Mountain Range section of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest in Fergus County, Montana. The site offers a remote backcountry experience for campers seeking solitude away from developed facilities. The campground provides a vault toilet but no potable water, so campers must bring their own water supply. As with all dispersed camping on the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, pack-it-out principles apply for all trash including food scraps. Campfires are generally permitted unless fire restrictions are in effect due to high fire danger. Bears are known to frequent this area, and mandatory food storage in approved bear-resistant containers is required. All food must be kept out of sight and removed from the camping area after eating. Campers should practice Leave No Trace principles and camp at least 100 feet from water sources.
