About

Timber Creek Campground occupies a scenic spot in Duck Creek Basin on the Schell Creek Range in eastern Nevada. At 8,500 feet elevation, the campground is surrounded by a dense forest of Engelmann spruce, aspen, and white fir trees that provide partial shade and spectacular fall color. Timber Creek, a perennial stream stocked with rainbow and brook trout, runs alongside the campground. The campground features 18 sites total: five group sites accommodating 25-100 people, six RV sites, and seven equestrian sites with a corral area. Each site includes picnic tables, campfire rings, and BBQ pedestals. Vault toilets are provided, though trash is pack-in/pack-out. Recreation options abound. The High Schells Wilderness trailhead sits half a mile up the road, with multiple peaks exceeding 11,000 feet. The 30-mile Success Loop Scenic Drive showcases surrounding high desert and mountain terrain. The Ranger OHV Trail below the campground accommodates ATVs, mountain bikes, horses, and hikers. Nearby attractions include Ward Charcoal Ovens State Park and Cave Lake State Park.
