East Creek Campground

About

East Creek Campground is located high on the slopes of the Schell Creek Range in the Duck Creek Basin, about 20 miles from Ely, Nevada. Sitting at 7,400 feet elevation in an alder, pinyon, and juniper forest, the campground offers 12 newly improved campsites, each equipped with picnic tables, campfire rings, and grills. Three vault toilets serve the area. East Creek, a perennial stream, runs directly through the picnic area, attracting birds during spring and summer. This is a primitive, pack-it-in-pack-it-out facility with no potable water, hookups, or trash service. The Ranger Trail, a designated OHV trail that also accommodates hiking and mountain biking, can be accessed directly from the campground. The 30-mile Success Loop Scenic Drive is nearby, offering views of high desert and mountain terrain. Nearby attractions include Cave Lake State Park and Ward Charcoal Ovens State Park, both a few miles from Ely. The Northern Nevada Railway in Ely has a museum and offers train rides.

Directions

From Ely, travel north on Highway 93 to the town of McGill. Continue north approximately 3 miles on Highway 93 to the Duck Creek Basin turnoff. Proceed east on Duck Creek Basin Road and turn left at the sign for East Creek Campground. Approximately 20 miles from Ely.
