About
East Creek Campground is located high on the slopes of the Schell Creek Range in the Duck Creek Basin at 7,400 feet elevation, approximately 20 miles from Ely, Nevada. The campground sits in the middle of an alder, pinyon, and juniper forest with East Creek, a perennial stream, running directly through the area. Many birds make it their home during the spring and summer seasons.
The campground offers 12 newly improved sites, each equipped with picnic and serving tables, campfire rings, and grills. The Ranger Trail, a designated OHV trail that also accommodates hiking and mountain biking, can be accessed directly from the campground. The 30-mile Success Loop Scenic Drive is also in the area, offering views of high desert and mountain terrain.
East Creek Campground provides a vault toilet but no potable water, so visitors must bring their own. The site is within easy reach of Cave Lake State Park and Ward Charcoal Ovens State Park, both near Ely. The Northern Nevada Railway in Ely offers a museum and train rides for those interested in local history.
