About
Tiedeman Slough Cabin offers a remote backcountry experience in Alaska's Copper River Delta within the Chugach National Forest. The 12x14 foot rustic cabin sleeps up to 6 guests on wooden bunkbeds without mattresses. Furnishings include a table, oil stove for heating, rainwater catchment barrel, and an outdoor pit toilet. There is no running water, electricity, or bedding provided. Access requires float plane or boat at high tide only. By boat, travel to mile 17 on Copper River Highway, turn south on Alaganik Road to the boat ramp at mile 3, then go 7 miles west on Alaganik Slough to Tiedeman Slough and a quarter-mile north to the cabin. Float plane access is approximately 10 minutes from Cordova. The delta is subject to high winds and tide-dependent conditions; visitors should check NOAA tide predictions and bring extra supplies for 2-5 days in case of weather delays. The Copper River Delta is a premier birding destination along the Pacific Flyway, hosting 20 million migratory shorebirds and waterfowl. Wildlife includes brown bears, moose, beaver, and wolves. Fishing for silver salmon runs August through September, and sockeye salmon are abundant late June through July in nearby Alaganik Slough.
