About
Tie Hack Campground is located on the east side of the Cloud Peak Skyway in the Bighorn National Forest, near the shore of Tie Hack Reservoir at 7,900 feet elevation. The campground features 19 standard nonelectric sites nestled in a dense lodgepole pine forest with rock outcroppings. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are available, along with trash collection. Tie Hack Reservoir offers excellent fishing for rainbow, cutthroat, brown, and brook trout, with electric motors only permitted. A short trail connects the campground to the lake. The Circle Park Trailhead, located 3 miles from camp, accesses numerous alpine lakes and two 12,000-foot peaks within the Cloud Peak Wilderness. Scenic off-road driving, hiking, and mountain biking are available on nearby Elgin Park, Pole Creek, and Crazy Woman Canyon Roads. South Fork Lodge is nearby, offering dining, lodging, guided horseback riding, a fishing pond, and a small store with fishing and camping supplies. The campground is managed by Rustic Freedom/Gallatin Canyon Campgrounds and reservations are available through Recreation.gov.
