About
Hettinger Group Campground is located 14 miles west of Buffalo, Wyoming on the east side of scenic Cloud Peak Skyway (U.S. Highway 16), near the Cloud Peak Wilderness Area. The campground sits in a small meadow within a dense forest of lodgepole pine at 7,600 feet elevation. The facility offers one group site that can accommodate up to 150 people and is available for overnight camping or day-use picnicking. Tie Hack Reservoir is a short drive away, offering excellent canoeing and fishing opportunities for rainbow, cutthroat, brown and brook trout, with a short trail connecting from the campground to the lake. The Circle Park Trailhead is 3 miles from the campground, providing access to numerous alpine lakes and two 12,000-foot peaks within the Cloud Peak Wilderness. Scenic off-road driving, hiking and mountain biking are available on nearby Elgin Park, Pole Creek and Crazy Woman Canyon Roads. South Fork Lodge is nearby, offering dining, lodging, guided horseback riding, a fishing pond and a small store with fishing and camping supplies.

From Buffalo, Wyoming, take U.S. Highway 16 west for about 12 miles, then turn west on Forest System Road 131 for 0.4 mile.
