About
Thousand Springs State Park showcases the natural wonders of Idaho's Magic Valley through six unique units spread across the Snake River Canyon area. The Billingsley Creek unit serves as the main hub, featuring a 50-site RV campground with full hookups, a visitor center shared with Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument, fishing opportunities, wildlife viewing, and an indoor horse-riding arena. The park's diverse units each offer distinct experiences: Malad Gorge provides dramatic canyon views and a 250-foot gorge with waterfalls accessible from a sturdy bridge; Box Canyon Springs Nature Preserve features a 20-foot waterfall fed by springs flowing at 180,000 gallons per minute and excellent winter eagle watching; Niagara Springs cascades down the canyon at 250 cubic feet per second with picnicking and fishing at Crystal Springs Lake; Ritter Island offers historic agricultural structures and three rental homes; and Kelton Trail preserves Oregon Trail wagon ruts and stage stop traces. The campground operates year-round with the upper loop remaining open through winter while the lower loop closes December through February. Each RV site accommodates one family unit or up to eight people with two tents and two motor vehicles maximum. The park's springs, part of the world-famous Thousand Springs Complex, emerge from the Snake River Plain aquifer and create stunning turquoise cascades down volcanic cliff faces.
