Located on the scenic west shore of Anderson Ranch Reservoir in Boise National Forest, Castle Creek Campground offers a rustic, no-fee camping experience for those seeking a quiet getaway. The campground features two first-come, first-served campsites with basic amenities including vault toilets, but no potable water is available so campers must bring their own supply. The reservoir is renowned for excellent fishing opportunities, with healthy populations of smallmouth bass and kokanee salmon. While there is no boat ramp at Castle Creek itself, the nearby Fall Creek Campground provides boat launch access for anglers and water recreation enthusiasts. The campground's location along Forest Service Road 120 provides relatively easy access from State Highway 20, with the communities of Pine and Featherville nearby offering restaurants, groceries, and fuel. At an elevation where mountain and reservoir ecosystems meet, Castle Creek Campground serves as a peaceful base camp for fishing, boating, and exploring the Anderson Ranch Reservoir area. The campground operates seasonally from late May through the end of September, weather and snow conditions permitting.
Directions
From Mountain Home, Idaho, travel north 21 miles along State Highway 20 to Forest Service Road 134. Travel north along FS Road 134 toward Anderson Ranch Dam approximately 6 miles. At the Dam, turn right onto FS Road 120 and travel north along the reservoir. Pass Evans Creek Campground and continue approximately 4 miles to Castle Creek Campground.
