Temporary Closure of Main Entrance at Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa
Starting August 25, the main entrance to Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa will be closed for gate installation, but the area and hiking trails remain open with alternative parking at Wendy Trailhead. Entrance will reopen on August 28.

Thornhill Broome Campground sits directly on the beach within Point Mugu State Park, offering an unmatched coastal camping experience in the western Santa Monica Mountains. The 62 primitive campsites line up along the sand, providing immediate beach access and panoramic ocean views. This is dry camping with no hookups, appealing to those seeking a more rugged beachside experience. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, token-operated cold showers, fire rings at each site, and potable water spigots. Maximum combined vehicle and trailer length is 31 feet, including hitch and tongue. Dogs are allowed in the campground and on the beach but not on backcountry trails. The gates open at 8am and close at 10pm with no entry permitted after hours. Campers enjoy surf fishing, swimming, body surfing, and stunning sunsets over the Pacific. The location provides access to over 70 miles of hiking trails throughout Point Mugu State Park, including routes to Mugu Peak and the Boney Mountain State Wilderness Area. Located 15 miles south of Oxnard on Highway 1, the campground sits within both California State Parks land and the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
