High Surf Advisory issued July 20 at 8:13PM PDT until July 21 at 11:00PM PDT by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
* WHAT...Large breaking waves building to 3 to 6 feet with sets to 7 feet. Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Ventura County Beaches, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. * WHEN...Until 11 PM PDT Tuesday, peaking tonight through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Highest surf will be focused across south facing beaches due to a southerly swell produced by Tropical Storm Elida. Additional Beach Hazards Statements or High Surf Advisories will likely be needed through the rest of the week due to a series of incoming southerly swells.

About
Headquarters Hookup sits within Point Mugu State Park, one of the largest stretches of protected coastline in Southern California. The park spans over 13,300 acres at the western end of the Santa Monica Mountains, where Big Sycamore Canyon meets the Pacific Ocean. Campers have direct access to five miles of rocky bluffs, sandy beaches, and sand dunes, along with over 70 miles of hiking and equestrian trails that wind through native grasslands, coastal sage scrub, and sycamore-shaded canyons. The campground offers developed amenities including flush toilets, coin-operated showers (bring dollar bills), and potable water from spigots throughout the grounds. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. The campground can accommodate tents, trailers up to 31 feet, and RVs up to 35 feet with a height limit of 13 feet 6 inches. Pull-through sites are available. An RV dump station is located at nearby Sycamore Canyon Campground, approximately 1.5 miles away. The park is home to diverse wildlife including deer, bobcats, and mountain lions. Visitors should be aware that mountain lion sightings have occurred in the area; avoid hiking alone, especially between dusk and dawn. Cell service is limited to Verizon coverage only.
